In Lebanon, Bechara Samaha completed his primary studies at Sagesse School in Beirut, which happens to be the institution where Kahlil Gibran was educated. Then, he went on to achieve his secondary and high school studies at St. Joseph – Antoura in Mount Lebanon.
In the USA, Bechara obtained a Bachelor Degree in Political Science and another one in Religious Studies at Villanova University (Villanova, PA), in 1988.
Two years later, he completed a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering at Merrimack University (North Andover, MA).
In 1992, he obtained his Masters Degree in the same discipline at Worcester Polytechnic Institute – WPI (Worcester, MA).
He completed high studies in International Trading and Commerce and got his Advanced Diploma from the Canadian Ministry of Industry and Trading – Montreal, in 2001.
During his studies, he worked as Teaching Assistant in Physics and Engineering Mechanics at Merrimack and WPI, and supervised engineering laboratories at Merrimack as well as at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
He worked as a Research Assistant in the field of Random Vibration and Base Isolation at WPI.
He expanded his knowledge in Engineering by achieving many governmental and University projects. Among the latter, he designed replacement lodging facilities for the Appalachian Mountains which included water and wastewater treatment systems. He led a multicultural group, through analyzing and renovating the historical “Moseley Truss Bridge” in Lawrence, MA, which was built in 1865.
He taught Mathematics to Junior and Senior students, and he conducted sessions in “Engineering Statistics and Structural Analysis” courses at Merrimack University.
He obtained a University Scholarship at Villanova University during his studies, and made the Dean’s List for two consecutive years: 1987 and 1988.
Bechara was awarded the “Daniel W. Mead Prize” from the American Society at Civil Engineering – ASCE, in 1990, for the best research paper presented in the USA, topic: “Effects of International Students on the U.S. Educational System.”
He was also granted the “Kahlil Gibran Award” for the 1990-1991, as well as 1991-1992 academic years.
